Terms of Access

1. Access to digitized archival material of the General State Archives are free in principle, as regards public documents. Subject to the limitations set out in Article 42 of Law 1946/91 «General State Archives and other provisions» and the Law 2472/1997 «Protection of Individuals with regard to processing of personal data» and the existing laws on protection of private and commercial confidentiality.

2. For publication in any form of digitized image of the evidence required permit.

Article 42 - Study of archival material

1. The records of the jurisdiction of G.A.K. available for study as provided by Article 16 of Law 1599/1986 and required over 30 years.

2. The archives and collections donated to G.A.K. provided to researchers under the terms of the donor, otherwise subject to general or specific provisions of this article.

3. The photomicrographs copiers and copies of documents found in G.A.K. available for study under the same conditions as the original documents and manuscripts.

4. If, at the discretion of the Director of G.A.K., is likely to adversely affect the national interest, making available for study is permitted only with prior approval obtained by absolute majority of the Inspectorate of the G.A.K.
